Despite how idyllic the photos look, the weather was 100 degrees on the day of the photo shoot. We started at around 7am and were supposed to end around noon, but we left early because it got too hot.
SUNNY tilted his head all on his own. He seems to say, "Check out my neat violin!"You can see it in this picture only if you look closely, but we used KEL's basketball to prop AUBREY up on the sidewalk.There were a group of kids playing at the basketball courts when we arrived, so had to wait for them to leave before we could set this up. We used multiple basketballs to knock KEL down from the hoop afterwards.Finding a spot for HERO along the park was difficult. I settled on an area that looked kind of like a college campus. He has a lot of crumpled paper on the table and floor, just like at my desk at home.Initially, the idea for BASIL's shoot was to surround him with a lot of plants, but even though he's smiling, he still ended up looking quite sad. For the promotional images, I ended up choosing the photos of him surrounded by his friends. I think that's when he seems the happiest.Those familiar with the entire game might notice that I tried to replicate some of the game's scenes using the plushies. This photo is supposed to be the scene before the final battle when SUNNY reaches for his friends for comfort, but it ended up looking like they were bullying him.
A lot of strangers on morning walks came up to us to check out what we were doing. You could see in their eyes that they had a lot of questions. I think we must have looked like an odd group of people taking photos of plushies with a professional photo shoot set-up.
Anyway, the photos came out really nice, so I'm glad suffering through the heat was worth it. I ended up liking the photos so much, I even considered making postcard sets of them in the future, but we'll see...
